Built for speed: What it takes to deliver logistics facilities | Corbis: News & Agenda

As e-commerce gains momentum, the facilities that support it are becoming increasingly strategic. What are the challenges facing this sector? Here are our findings after visiting logistics parks in Brazil.

Over 24 years, we've worked on industrial complexes designed to move fast and run efficiently, from manufacturing plants to distribution hubs. A few years ago, we started a new chapter that links our industrial expertise with the logistics sector.

As part of this expansion, last week we visited several logistics parks in São Paulo, Brazil, to learn more about the many layers of complex systems logistics companies rely on to keep package delivery running 24/7, even under demanding conditions and tight deadlines.

This type of project requires close coordination between the existing buildings, the systems that keep them safe and running, and the new, more advanced package sorting and loading/unloading docks. The challenge lies in handling massive volumes of products as they move from sellers to their final destination.

As e-commerce grows in size, speed, and reach, companies increasingly understand the impact commercial real estate has on their business, where every minute counts to serve clients and sustain growth. This means keeping up with fast-track projects and consistent standards.

To deliver these projects more efficiently, we're strengthening our use of BIM technology. It brings accuracy to design coordination, predictability to keep layouts versatile, and quick responses to company needs.

Are you exploring new logistics facilities or planning your next expansion? We'd love to hear about your project and share what we've learned along the way.
